Terran Battleship finished

In cooperation with my mate Woody Stables we worked on this great battleship for the Hostile Realms universe from Wild House Models . The great Rick Sternbach has designed the original blueprints for this ship and it was an honour to create the 3D model. It's a lovely design and I can't wait to see it transformed into a model kit.

Zbrush Alphas

Here are the Alphas I used on the ZR Mk I, thought they might be useful for some.

Some don't have a 100% black background because of some mysterious reason, make sure to keep that in mind or change it if needed. Klick for larger versions.

Feel free to use them as you like, just credit.

Now in 3D ^^

Holy moly, the internets is magical.

Feel free to scroll around and make pew pew pew noises.

Battleship

Today I'll continue work on the Rick Sternbach space ship I am making together with my colleague and buddy Woody Stables. The ship is being made for Wildhouse Models and will later on come with a lighting kit to illuminate it.

There is not too much left to do now, add more detail and adding the parts Woody made for the ship ( the turbine section and weapon pods on the sides are still missing on this version ).

We still don't have a name for the ship, if you want to be adventurous and come up with one, you can take place in the Wildhouse Models Giveaway and maybe win one of the models for yourself! Oh and they are running two other giveaways at the same time, so absolutely worth checking it out, maybe you're one of the lucky ones.

Enjoyed this model and am keeping it as close as possible to the concept art and blueprints made by the great Rick Sternbach, who designed the space ships for Star Treks next generation and Deep space 9 etc.

A test

Found out about sketchfab, so I am testing it and want to see if I can integrate it to the blog.

Resolution is waaaaay down and a lot of the detail and texture are missing due to the max filesize I can upload, but it's nice to have a three dimensional view instead of taking a lot of screenshots. At least it gives an impression of what it looks like from all sides and differernt angles.

Test test test....

...ok result is I cannot embed it here to the blog directly, well whatever. click this LINK then.

Military version finished, hurray.

Just the hands for the police and riot police version left to do!

here is the mil version:

A bit more got done.

Made the molle straps on the poilce vest and a bit of touching up. Detailed some stuff up a bit more too. Now just the mil-head and some neck with joints and adapting the hands left to do. I also might add a soft pad to the right forearm for the riot cop version, I feel he needs a bit of thickening up in that area to keep the line going the pad on the upper arm creates. We'll see...

P.O.U.
R.P.O.U.

Yeah.... and now for some more Zbrush I guess. Hurray!

Almost there now...

Well I spend big part of the day continuing on the bot. There are just a few parts left to do and a few to detail up a bit more. Gonna make Molle straps on the vest, add the telescopic baton I also made, also to the police vest. Have made a pepper spray can ( not on the picture) and will have to do some straps to attach it. The main things that are left to do are a left hand clenched up into a fist, a right hand holding the pistol, a right hand holding the baton and last but not least the neck and the head of the military robot. Quite some stuff to do still....

All three are the same size, albeit them not being the same size on the picture. From left to right:
P.O.U., R.P.O.U., Mil-I

Well, that's it for today I guess. Way to spend your saturday....

ZR Mk-I RPOU

Here I have the R.P.O.U. (Riot. Police. Officer. Unit.) armor/padding done. I kind of liked the blockyness of it and how it changes the basic shape of the robot beneath. All parts will be separate to allow for variation.

Now with even more padding! No more lawsuits through accidental collateral damage. Yes, the padding is to protect the citizen not the robot. In recent crowd control situations unpadded robots were observed to cause way severe injuries to demonstrants due to their hard shell and metal bodies, to avoid unnescessary and costly lawsuits against the AIPD, the Mk-I R.P.O.U. now has improved padding to make sure nobody is hurt more than absolutely nescessary...

Oh, and the cap he's wearing right now is a place holder and not intended for the riot version but for the normal police unit, I have to make some helmet for this one...

Still to do:

-P.O.U. vest
-P.O.U. pistol and telescopic baton
-R.P.O.U. pepperspray
-R.P.O.U. helmet
-Hands
-Military head
-Neck + joints for neck

The ZR Mk-I R.P.O.U.  ( Obviously still WIP, but we're getting there )

Prepare to be thoroughly policed with the baton citizen!

Cheers! Now for some Zbrush...

ZR Mk-1 further down the road...

Next up, some additional equipment the guy still needs. At least he's got feet by now.

The hip joints actually slide in further into the hip, the stance will be closer in the final model.

ZR Mk-1 still WIP -.-

Yeah, had to change the upper arm to allow for maximum elbow mobility. Also made more parts.

A few more days....

I am leaving the head for last as a reward for me. Next up, knees and calfs!

Kriss K10

Just finished it. This one will be the sidearm of the MK-1 Robot I am building at the moment. The Kriss K10 is brand new today so in a not too distant future ( maybe 20-30 years ) they might still be in use as older firearms are today.

It's kind of ugly but I like the very different design it has compared to other firearms.

There is a version of this one available at my shapeways shop.

Cheers!

Zander Robotics MK-01 WIP

currently working on a military/police robot.

as you can see, there is obviosly a lot to do on this fella. really enjoying this guy though, it just takes an awful lot of time with all the small parts and keeping it all functional at the same time...
